Flying into hurricanes

Željka Fuchs-Stone

Have you ever wondered how we study weather? How the scientists issue hurricane warnings? Do they observe weather? Do they do math? Use supercomputers?
This talk is about weather and flying into storms and hurricanes. About physics that we are trying to understand to give better weather forecasts and climate predictions as our future economy and our health depend on them.
The talk is easy to understand with lots of pictures and some movies, new projects and new ideas. Come and fall in love with the mystery of weather!

Zeljka Fuchs-Stone is a professor of physics and Director of Climate and Water Consortium. She does research in atmospheric physics, mainly convection, tropical storms and hurricanes. She also flies into storms and hurricanes.
